Miami University's Summer Scholars
359 high school students participate in 2022 program
What is the Summer Scholars Program?
The Summer Scholars Program is a week-long summer experience for high-achieving high school students who will be juniors or seniors the following fall. A total of 22 academic modules are offered in a pair of sessions.
Summer Scholars work on an assignment to choose which college applicant to accept during a full-group event at the Farmer School of Business.
What topics are available for study?
The modules range from topics such as game design and neuroscience to fashion design and data science.

Students in the Media Matters: Filmmaking module work on a short film (left); examine specimens from Miami's collection of taxidermied animals at the Hefner Museum of Natural History (center) in the Modern Naturalist module; and discuss a game design question with an instructor (right) in the Art of Game Design module.
How does it work?
Students stay on campus in an assigned residence hall under the guidance of Miami University student staff counselors. Classes take place daily with morning and afternoon sessions.
Students in the Engineering: Design and Build an Interactive Robot module learn to program with Jim Leonard from the Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering. The students then build a robotic device that can navigate through hallways and classrooms.
