Miami's Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness facility at 421 S. Campus Ave. officially opened in June, with a dedication held on Sept. 14.
The 165,000-square-foot building houses the Physician Associate Studies program; Nursing; Speech Pathology and Audiology department; the Speech and Hearing Clinic; the offices of Student Counseling Service and Student Wellness; and Health Services for students, faculty, and staff.
Construction began on the facility in December 2020 and was completed in April 2023, replacing the former Student and Employee Health Center. With its close proximity to the Recreational Sports Center, Phillips Hall, and Goggin Ice Arena, the Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness facility naturally promotes cross-divisional partnerships in key educational and co-curricular programs.
On Sept. 14, Miami University President Gregory Crawford, pictured speaking below, was part of the dedication ceremony for the Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness building. Members of the Miami community were invited to tour the facility's three wings of clinics, state-of-the-art classrooms, and simulation labs.
The new Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness building features an outdoor healing garden off the main lobby, as well as state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, including Innovation Lab's Anatomage tables for anatomy and physiology studies, a PA diagnostic skills lab, and more.
The departments of Nursing and Speech Pathology and Audiology moved into their new home in time to start the fall semester. Students in the first cohort of Miami's new Master of Medical Science/Physical Associate Studies program started in the building in May.
Classrooms and labs are in the north academic wing and faculty offices in the middle wing. Speech pathology and audiology labs are located on the third floor of the middle wing, adjacent to the clinic.
Along with classrooms, labs, and clinics, the new facility also features a cafe in the middle wing with various grab-and-go items available.
