Miami University's women's basketball team traveled to Morgantown, West Virginia, to face fourth-seeded West Virginia in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
It was the RedHawks' first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008 and second overall. Miami earned the automatic bid by capturing the Mid-American Conference tournament crown in Cleveland.
No. 4 West Virginia defeated No. 13 Miami 82-54 at Hope Coliseum. More than 13,000 fans packed the arena to watch the two games in the first round of the tournament. In the opener, Kentucky defeated James Madison 71-56.
It was a historic season for the RedHawks. They won a program-best 28 games and swept the MAC's regular-season and tournament championships.
